About Me

Born in 2012 and based in Birkirkara, Malta, Emily Georgea Dimech is a dedicated and multi-talented young performer whose artistic journey began at the age of three. A student at the Hoi Polloi Academy (HPA) since 2015, Emily has been mentored by Mr. Marco Calleja and the tutors at HPA, building a strong foundation in voice, acting, and dance. She has consistently excelled in Trinity College London Musical Theatre examinations, achieving high results up to Grade 7 in ensemble and Grade 4 in individual examinations.

Emily has also followed the Play in Production course at Hoi Polloi Academy three times. In 2024, the cohort staged Minn Got-tagen ghal got-Twits, and in 2025 they produced Disney’s Dare to Dream Junior. Emily was cast as Player 10 and Solo J in the latter and, in addition, took on the significant responsibility of serving as the production’s Music Director, a role which was later extended to the adaptation of this production for the Junior Theatre Festival 2026. In 2026, Emily once again took up the role of music director and together with her collegues produced MTI's Broadway JR Review: Raise Your Voice. These experiences deepened her understanding of production processes, teamwork, and musical leadership.

Emily’s artistic journey has extended to international platforms. She participated in the Junior Theatre Festival in Birmingham in 2024, 2025 and 2026, gaining invaluable experience performing and learning in a vibrant international community. Following auditions, she was selected for the prestigious JTF International All Stars Programme 2026, which took place in New York and Atlanta in January 2026 —an achievement that places her among the most promising young performers in the global musical theatre scene and a first for Maltese performers. In August 2025, she further broadened her training through an intensive musical theatre week at the acclaimed Mountview Academy of the Theatre Arts in London.

Emily’s stage credits are wide-ranging. At Hoi Polloi Academy, she has performed in Homebound (Kris, 2022), The Little Mermaid Junior (ensemble, 2023) and Shrek Junior (2025), where she took on the iconic role of Fiona. At Hoi Polloi Theatre Company, she was part of the adult ensemble of the pantoween Hocus Pocus (2025) and has now been cast to be a part of the Teen Ensemble for the production The Panto of the Opera (2026). At St. Monica School Birkirkara, Emily played the lead role of Mary Poppins (2024) and Ursola (Little Mermaid, 2026), demonstrating her ability to carry demanding principal roles with poise and confidence.

Her musical involvement extends beyond theatre. She was a member of the Joseph Calleja Children’s Choir during the renowned tenor’s 25th Anniversary Concert in 2022. More recently, she performed as a guest soloist in Symphony of Digits (2025), the annual youth wind band concert organised by the George Vella School of Music, and before, in Up Close and Personal with the Youth Band (2022), where she featured as narrator, soloist, and ensemble vocalist.

Emily has received numerous internal awards at Hoi Polloi Academy, including Class of the Year, All-Rounder of the Year, and special recognitions for perseverance, phenomenal participation, and hard work, reflecting her resilience, positive spirit, and collaborative approach to learning and performance.

Emily’s artistic education extends across disciplines. She has studied ballet at Danza C and is currently enrolled in contemporary dance with Warren Schembri Bonello, as well as tapping and jazz at Hoi Polloi. She is also an active member of the Muzikidz Choir and continues to refine her vocal and instrumental skills through singing lessons with Ms. Rachel Fabri and Ms. Graziella DeBattista, piano studies with Mr. John Cutajar and music theory with Mr. Carl Borg. Her openness to growth is evident in her participation in masterclasses and workshops with leading professionals such as Matthew Lee Robinson, Mark Dorrell, Dorothy Bezzina and Martina Galea.

Alongside her artistic commitments, Emily excels academically at St. Monica School, Birkirkara, where she consistently achieves high distinction in a variety of subjects. Her strong academic performance strengthens her discipline, critical thinking, and linguistic skills—qualities that enrich her artistic interpretations.

Beyond the stage and classroom, Emily enjoys reading, travelling, and attending musicals and live productions. Her blend of discipline, passion, and youthful energy continues to shape her into a versatile and inspiring young artist, with exciting potential across local and international stages.
